CertRecall

Salesforce Platform Administrator study plan, built on the exam weights

Short answer: split your study time by the exam's section weights, take timed practice exams of 60 questions, and review every question you miss until you stop missing it.

This plan is a suggestion from CertRecall, not an official Salesforce plan. The section weights come from the official exam guide; the order and pacing are our recommendation.

Step 1: Study by weight

SectionShare of your study time
Configuration and Setup15%
Object Manager and Lightning App Builder15%
Sales and Marketing Applications10%
Service and Support Applications10%
Productivity and Collaboration10%
Data and Analytics Management17%
Automation15%
Agentforce8%

Step 2: Work through the sections in blocks

  1. Block 1 (40% of the exam): Configuration and Setup, Object Manager and Lightning App Builder, Sales and Marketing Applications.
  2. Block 2 (37% of the exam): Service and Support Applications, Productivity and Collaboration, Data and Analytics Management.
  3. Block 3 (23% of the exam): Automation, Agentforce.
  4. Final block: timed full-length practice exams, then review every miss.

Spread the blocks over as many weeks as your schedule allows. Short daily sessions work better than one long weekly session, which is where spaced repetition helps.

Step 3: Review with spaced repetition

Do not read a topic once and move on. Come back to questions you missed sooner and to questions you got right later. CertRecall schedules this for you.

Step 4: Rehearse the real exam

Take full practice exams of 60 questions in 105 minutes. Aim to be consistently above 68%, the passing score for the English exam, and check the score for each section to see what to study next.

See the objectives under each section and the exam format.

Frequently asked questions

How should I split my study time across the exam sections?

In proportion to the exam weights, then shift extra time to any section where your practice score is low.

How many practice exams should I take?

Take at least one full 60-question practice exam under the 105-minute limit before the real exam, and review every missed question afterwards.

How do I know when I am ready?

The passing score is 68%. If your timed practice exams are consistently above that and no section is weak, you are in a good position. This is a rule of thumb, not an official readiness test.
